Interior design graduate Gintare Sidaraviciute got her career off to a great start by scooping the top prize at the Society of British and International Design’s (SBID) annual student design competition.

Students were tasked with designing a retail, leisure or public space following the theme of "metamorphosis". This inspired Gintare to create an environmentally sustainable leisure complex, hotel lobby and bar.

Projects were evaluated by industry experts and judged based on their technical content and creativity.

The award was given by Vanessa Brady OBE, a multi-award winning interior designer, business consultant and founder of the Society of British and International Design. For her efforts, Gintare has received 12 months of access to an SBID mentor of her choice and a certificate that demonstrates her achievements.

BA (Hons) Interior Design

Southampton Solent University’s BA (Hons) Interior Design course is recognised by the European Council of Interior Architecture and accredited by the Society of British and International Design (SBID). By combining academic study with hands-on interior design projects, students have the opportunity to develop a portfolio and refine their skills alongside real clients.

Students graduate ready to meet the growing demand for interior design specialists who can design and implement the high-quality interiors that consumers have come to expect.

Next steps for Gintare

Gintare is the latest to join a long list of successful interior design graduates. Solent students have won the SBID student design competition for four consecutive years.

Gintare she has created a website to display her portfolio and attract freelance work. She also continues to stay involved with Solent University by attending SBID meetings and briefings here on campus.
