Event held for local business apprenticeship

Higher Apprenticeships and Degree Apprenticeships – what do they mean to you, your organisation and your teams? These are just some of the questions that will be answered at a business networking event at Southampton Solent University on 21 January 2016.

Solent University’s School of Business and Law is one of only a handful of Higher Education Institutes (HEI) invited to help deliver this trailblazing new apprentice scheme that puts employers in the driving seat.

Officially launched at the House of Commons on 11 November, the new Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeships (CMDA) will benefit employers in a number of ways including: increased productivity by training and upskilling new and existing staff; filling higher level skills gaps through staff development; and enhanced retention of a skilled workforce.

David Moxon, Acting Director of the School of Business and Law, says:  “Degree apprenticeships will give people a great head start, combining a full degree with the real practical skills gained in work and the financial security of a regular pay packet. They will bring business and education closer together, helping build the high-level technical skills needed for the jobs of the future.”

Myths and lack of understanding surround the provision of Higher Apprenticeships and Degree Apprenticeships and this networking event aims to discuss and answer questions that employers may have.

Questions that will be answered and discussed at the event include:

  • What is the government agenda here?
  • What does it mean for my business (small and large)?
  • How much is it going to cost us as a business?

If you want to develop your knowledge of this potentially ‘game changing’ initiative join us at Southampton Solent University’s School of Business and Law on Thursday 21 January from 5.00 – 7.00 pm at the Sir James Matthews Conference Centre.

This informative networking event will be of significant value to HR professionals and Senior and Line leadership alike.
