This month's Public Relations student of the month is first year PR student Nicole Silva. Find out more about her Solent journey here...

When did you first decide you wanted to study PR?

There’s so much you can do with PR and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for my future career. The Public Relations and Communication course stood out to me as it gives me a lot of career choice for the future. When looking at the course I liked the fact that if offers you a vast amount of experience. It involves a lot of theory that will be very useful in the future, along with the practical side which is fun and essential.

What has been your favourite unit so far?

So far I would have to say that Creative Digital Technology was my favourite unit. I loved learning about the different software and design. It made me realise that I really want to peruse the creative side of PR.

What are your plans for the summer?

I don’t have any plans yet but I certainly want to do some work experience over the summer in my home country. I feel it will help me decide what I really want to do for my future career.

What are your tips for A level students considering a PR degree?

If you are indecisive about what to choose as your degree subject, like me, then PR is a great choice for you. The course incorporates design, creativity, planning and organisation. I would advise anyone considering this degree to write down several characteristics that you believe define you. This will reveal your passions and you can see if PR is the right course for you.
