Senior Lecturer in Media Technology Paul Bourne presented a lecture to the local network of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on Wednesday 10th May.
Titled “How Legacy Broadcast Definitions of Colour Impact on Video Systems Today”, the talk discussed how divergent standards from the past bring challenges within the present converged world of computer graphics and broadcast technologies. It explored the concepts of valid and legal colours and the impact this has on production workflows.
There was a good turnout from members and non-members including several from the broadcast sector as well as plenty who were new to the concepts. This stimulated a good amount of discussion and made for a thought-provoking evening.
We hope to announce some further projects with the IET in the near future.
