Biography

Anne is a senior lecturer in criminology and level one tutor. Prior to joining Southampton Solent University in 1992, she worked as a probation officer, both as a manager and practitioner, and has considerable experience in the areas of youth justice, criminal justice practice and sentencing in the Crown Court. She had a key role in the development of services for young offenders in Hampshire. Holder of both professional qualifications and an MA in Criminal Justice from the University of Southampton, Anne has particular responsibility for units relating to criminal justice practice. 

Together with Dr Polly Burton two major pieces of research commissioned by Southampton Drug Action Team have been completed. The findings from these pieces of research have been presented at national and international conferences, contributing to the current debate on drug treatment provision. Anne is currently involved in research with Hampshire Probation Service & Constabulary on female perpetrators of intimate partner violence. She continues to be actively involved in professional practice and is Vice Chair of the Independent Monitoring Board at HMP Winchester and the Wessex Youth Offender Panel.
