Biography

Sara is currently a research fellow at Solent University. Prior to that, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Solent from July 2016 to July 2018.

Sara earned her PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Minho (Portugal) in April 2016. This doctoral degree was related to the study on the influence of common working postures on individuals’ comfort and anthropometric data.

She accomplished her MScEng degree in July 2012 in the field of Industrial Engineering and Management, also at the University of Minho. Her master's dissertation was performed under the topic of implementation of Standard Work and other Lean Production tools.

Research interests

Sara’s current research interests are related to ergonomics and human factors and include topics such as anthropometry, 3D body scanning technologies, inclusive design and adaptive clothing, product design, usability and user experience, industry 4.0 and advanced manufacturing technologies.

Over the past year she has been working on a project aimed at designing adapted sportswear for wheelchair rugby, internally funded by the RIKE awards.

Sara is the author/co-author of more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences.
