Biography

A fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a course leader for the ACCA program, Viv joined Solent University in January 2004 and currently teaches on professional, post-graduate and undergraduate accountancy courses. Viv is interested in the practical application of knowledge gained through studies and during her time at Solent, she has completed both a postgraduate certificate in learning and teaching and an MProf, focusing on the pension industry which is an area of academic interest.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, she trained in St Albans with one of the UK’s leading providers of professional services, KPMG. After qualifying as a chartered accountant, she had a number of secondments within the company, including financial controller for the training department. Viv gained valuable commercial experience when she worked as a senior financial analyst at HSBC in the financial services industry.

    A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Vivienne Prudden trained in St Albans with one of the UK’s leading provider of professional services, KPMG. After qualifying as a chartered accountant, she had a number of secondments within the company, including financial controller for their training department. 

    Viv subsequently joined HSBC in Southampton as a senior analyst, where she was responsible for reviewing business cases, operational and strategic planning and providing management information. 

  2. Research interests

    Viv has recently completed research on the pensions industry, drawing on her previous industry knowledge. This research was used to complete her MProf (2013), together with her studies in technology in teaching.
