Paul Osborne is an associate lecturer for illustration at Solent University.

Industry experience

Illustration, portraiture, interior design and decoration, mural painting for private clients, industrial and architectural design firms in New York, Oslo and London, including Tibet House and Knoll. Exhibition design and set up for Bond Street gallery.

Research interests

Painting, drawing, illustration, architecture and design.

Art history; extensive reading into Renaissance art; Chinese landscapes; Japanese UkiyoE blockprints; prehistoric art; Mughal miniatures; Greek and Roman art; Buddhist art of India, Nepal and Tibet; Kangra school of painting; 19th century British watercolourists and pigments; 20th century British and European art including post impressionism and cubism.

Travelled extensively in Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Tibet, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and USA.

Recent publications

Paul's most recent publication is titled "Pilgrimage; an artists journey from Mount Athos to Tibet"


Paul was awarded a BA (Hons) Graphic Design at Bristol and a MA Illustration at the Royal College of Art.

Work in progress

Paul's current work in progress includes oil paintings of landscapes, figures; drawings and watercolours of townscapes, people, street scenes, woods; ink drawings and collages.
