Dave's academic specialism is in history, and he is a graduate of King's College London and Oxford University. His research interest was in the development of British higher education in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
He was previously registrar and director of academic services at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, a specialist performing arts institution based at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich and at a landmark contemporary dance building in Deptford. He has held similar posts in other academic institutions, including the roles of campus registrar at the University of Westminster and faculty manager of the School of Business, Computing and Information Management at London South Bank University. He has particular interests in student support, staff development and governance.
Dave is active in the wider sector, serving as a member of the National Executive of the Academic Registrars' Council and Chair of the Timetabling Practitioners' Group; Clerk to the Trustees of the AUA; institutional reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency; and as independent member of the Risk and Audit Committee of Lewisham Southwark College.
