Our second Community Conference saw 255 colleagues from Solent and neighbouring colleges and universities gather together in the Spark for an inspiring and busy day of workshops, presentations and PechaKuchas.
We thought about our students, we talked about our practice, and we questioned our direction, finishing with a lively panel discussion that set out to slay the dragons of higher education.
Judging by the lively discussions over lunch and at the closing drinks reception, it was a stimulating day that has earned its place as a regular event in the Solent calendar. Plans for the SLTC Conference on Friday 22 June 2018 are already underway. Please save the date and join us for another exciting event!

Keynote speaker - Dr Eylem Atakav
Eylem told us about her journey from postgraduate student at Solent to making her internationally acclaimed documentary, ‘Growing Up Married’ about forced marriage and child brides in Turkey.
At the University of East Anglia, she developed a teaching module on “Women, Islam and the Media” which catapulted her into public life. In the keynote, Eylem demonstrated that teaching has the potential to impact national social policy, and that students can contribute to this impact.
