The Solent Learning and Teaching Community Conference is packed with sessions showcasing innovative pedagogic practices. You will have the opportunity to join interactive workshops, engage with colleagues from across the south coast and contribute to an exciting round table event.

Lights, camera, action! A transnational learning and teaching journey to create impact and engagement opportunities for students

Keynote: Dr Eylem Atakav

Eylem is Senior Lecturer in Film and Television at the University of East Anglia and was awarded National Teaching Fellow in 2016. Her work focuses on women, Islam and media, and she has received a number of prestigious teaching awards. As a Solent Alumni, she is looking forward to connecting with colleagues and exploring innovative pedagogy throughout the day. 

Valuing teaching and enhancing student learning in the era of TEF and REF

Keynote: Professor Julie Hall

Julie will be joining Solent as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) on Monday 31 August 2017. Currently Deputy Provosts (Academic) at Roehampton she has won funding of over £1 million for pedagogic research and practice, and has written about student attainment gaps and student engagement. In her professorial lecture in 2015 Julie argued that students, networked through the digital world, present themselves in multiple places at once and knowledge is no longer solely in the possession of the orator

We asked our panel to think about what they would like to see as the next big advance in HE, significant current developments, and about how Solent can best prepare for the future. With audience participation encouraged, this plenary session is an excellent chance to discuss the difficulties and opportunities we are facing in HE.
