What does a typical day at work look like for you?

I support three senior managers, who in turn look after upwards of fifteen artists between them, whilst juggling lots of other spinning plates as managers always are. As you can imagine, my role can be totally different from one day to the next but this is precisely what I love about it. I book a lot of flights, I organise a lot of calendars and I schedule more meetings than I’m inclined to think about!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love TaP’s varied roster and how varied this can make my job. The company is really tight-knit and we all get stuck in. It’s quite a young entrepreneurial company, we’re growing and moving into new realms and it all feels so exciting – I’m really lucky to have joined the team at such a pivotal time, it feels really special to be a part of it.

How do you feel Solent helped prepare you for this role?

I came out of sixth form feeling a bit lost. I knew I wanted to work in music but – completely erroneously – thought this wasn’t an option for a girl. I discovered Solent’s course options and they just fit like a glove. I had this little support network in which to build my knowledge and my confidence before stepping out into real-world industry.

It really hit home how much being at Solent has done for me when I came to do my final year project. For this I put on a large-scale industry conference to support young women interested in careers in music, something that would have benefitted my younger self enormously and brought my Solent experience full-circle. Solent fully supported and facilitated this ambitious project, and this has been a real focal point in me starting to build a name for myself within the industry.

What advice would you give to others wanting to follow in your footsteps?

My advice would be to take up every opportunity that comes your way. Do it well, and make yourself a valuable asset. That way when the next opportunity comes up, the people you’ve worked with in the past will think of you, just as they did for me.

One of the best things about Solent is the many opportunities that can arise, both through Solent and the lecturers themselves.
