This two-day course teaches you day-time navigation in coastal waters using RIBs. During the course you'll learn how to plan a day cruise using a mixture of traditional navigation means and GPS navigation, including the use of chart plotters. Tidal heights calculations, buoyage, and pilotage, along with boat preparation, weather, boat handling, including man overboard, and passage marking will also be covered. Upon successful completion of the course you'll receive an RYA Intermediate Powerboat certificate.
Before enrolling on the course, it's recommended that you hold a current first aid certificate and a VHF licence. We also recommend that you revise the the following collision regulations: 5, 7, 8, 9, 13-17, and 23, prior to starting the course.
Please download the joining instructions before attending the course.
We'll provide waterproofs and buoyancy aids. We advise you to bring warm clothing, a change of clothes, and lunch.
