Happy New Year from Media Technology

Happy New Year from the Media Technology team.

You may have noticed that the blog has been rather quiet over the Christmas period. The University was closed for one week but staff and students have been quietly busying away either side. As the end of the first semester approached, students were focussing on their assignments and project work, which the academic staff have been assessing since. At the same time, seminar rooms and laboratories have had a steady trickle of presentations, demonstrations and viva voces.

It’s great to take stock of what has been achieved over the last semester and it's a timely opportunity for formative feedback to help with the next. There’s been an impressive range of assessment from the usual reports, presentations and pitches, to rigging lighting at Switch nightclub and demonstrating electronic circuits in the lab. Of course some submissions have gone better than others but overall the students appear to have learnt a lot and it’s great to see their confidence grow as they realise their own potential.
