These mandatory placements are a minimum of 12 weeks per year (paid or unpaid) and encourage the development of real-world skills in a ‘live’ industry setting. Solent’s close partnerships with a range of adventure and outdoor industries give students access to a wide range of organisations in the public, private and voluntary sector, support will be provided to help secure appropriate placements. There is also flexibility in placement opportunities including opportunities abroad, which is ideal if you’re considering employment overseas at the end of your degree.

For students wishing to develop their practical outdoor coaching and related national governing body (NGB) and associated qualifications, guidance will be provided on how to pursue these as part of your work placements as well as engagement with Solent's outdoor clubs.
