Where possible, industry qualifications are embedded into the course or are made available for an additional fee. Additional industry qualifications available to previous students have included the Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
The Association for Nutrition, the leading accreditation body for the nutrition and food science industry, have accredited some of the units taught as part of other sport and exercise courses at Southampton Solent University. Full accreditation for the Applied Human Nutrition degree is currently being sought. This would enable graduates to apply for direct entry onto the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists at associate level. This is the first step on the way to becoming a Registered Nutritionist.
