      Re:So Vintage

The vintage collection at Re:So is sourced by students. We plan each buying trip in advance to ensure each piece of the collection is well thought out and trend led. This also helps the students gain industry knowledge of what it is like to be a buyer within a retail environment.

The collection follows what has been forecast to be on trend for vintage that season, meaning that we have pieces that are specifically picked for the customer for the current season, not just what the buyers think should be on the shop floor.

The majority of the vintage products are single pieces, meaning we don’t usually have multiples of the same garments, which adds more meaning behind each great find.

Products from Re:So Vintage are available to buy in store.

    • Southampton

      Mandy Smith

      By Amanda Smith

The idea for the Southampton Heritage print range came after a history tour around Southampton. The retelling of the city’s history and memories of her granddad - a fire fighter during the war - combined with a love of architecture and the desire to improve her lino cutting skills, provided the inspiration for Amanda to create the concept for the range.

Amanda wanted to create a print celebrating the historic buildings that survived the bombings in WW2 and can still be seen in the city today, but are often overlooked. She spent a number of days sketching and photographing, walking and cycling around the city before deciding on a composition that worked.

The first in the range, Southampton Heritage Cityscape, was one of four artworks to win an open submission competition and was on display for one year, printed supersize on a wall at Westquay shopping centre. In 2017, Amanda added Southampton Old Town and Southampton Arcades to the range.

      Cool Cat and Hot Dog

      By Fern Cleary

After graduating from Solent in 2015, Cool Cat and Hotdog clothing took their love for illustration, printing and rappers and came up with the t-shirt series: ‘Rappers that sound cool until you find out their real names’. It makes fun of rappers’ real names in comparison to their stage names.

Cool Cat and Hot Dog clothing design and hand print all of their t-shirts in a screen-printing studio in Hampshire. Three years on, Cool Cat and Hot Dog clothing are now stocked in two stores in the UK, and in August 2018 their clothing sold at a pop-up store in Shoreditch’s Box Park.

      Spirals in Design

      By Mark Jones

Spirals in Design is a range of furniture and furniture accessories incorporating the shape of a spiral found in nature. The spiral’s precision is achieved by using laser-cutting technology. Easy to transport, set up and use, the products act as a centrepiece to inspire and bring the essence of the 'natural' into your home.

Design for us is the creative process of developing an idea into a made product: exploring the relationship between art and engineering, creating aesthetically pleasing forms inspired by nature, and communicating the concept in a way that’s easy to understand and use.

The range is used as a benchmark for product design units showing how to take an idea from concept to production, as well as branding, packaging and legalities.

Mark is course leader for BA (Hons) Product Design

    • Omen

      Omen

      By James Lambert

Omen was created in response to the current state of the fashion industry. The brand challenges the consumer mindset surrounding fast fashion through emotive graphics and informative blog entries. Omen is motivated to provide a more responsible and ethical streetwear garment to customers.

Omen has been as responsible as possible from the start, giving great consideration to choosing a supplier able to meet the brand’s high expectations. To ensure sustainability and traceability runs throughout the whole supply chain, Omen only uses organic cotton from farms that refuse to use toxic pesticides and fertilizers, but instead co-plant and use insect traps and cow dung to encourage biodiversity. GOTS organic cotton has a less detrimental effect on the local environment and is better for the producers and ecosystems.

Course studied: BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion and Communication

Products from Omen are available to buy in store at Re:So.
