More about 'Hunting the Snark and other strategy myths'
Business strategy requires management teams to imagine a future state and take steps to achieve their vision.
Lewis Carrol’s nonsense poem, ‘Hunting the Snark’, tells of one such adventure. Within it, a band of heroic and sometimes hapless mariners follow their vision and plan to pursue a mythical beast.
Hidden among the poem’s absurdities are key insights into how business strategies are formulated and applied, often with remarkably similar results.
In his lecture, Professor Henderson will draw upon the poem while discussing the research he and his doctoral students have carried out into many aspects of the strategic imagination. These include planning, organisational learning, knowledge management, strategic marketing and corporate social responsibility.
Post lecture there will be wine and light refreshments served.
Registration closes midnight 4 July 2015.
