The Godfather comes to Solent

Oscar, Academy-Award and Bafta winners, who between them have made some of the most iconic and important films in the history of cinema, will share their industry expertise at Solent’s annual edit day, Cutting Remarks, on 4 November 2015.

Experts include Walter Murch, Mick Audsley, David Gamble, John Wilson, John Grover, Vernon Messenger and Colin Miller.

Films they’ve worked on span everything from The Godfather, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Everest, Shakespeare in Love and Billy Elliot, to Licence to Kill, Labyrinth, For Your Eyes Only, The Wicker Man and Moonraker.

The industry experts will explore the art and craft of making films with Solent’s BA (Hons) Television Post-Production students and other guests.

Organised by Senior Lecturers Trish Morris and Julian Konczak, the event provides the opportunity to explore the film-making process from the perspective of an editor.

Trish says “The day is about bringing together the experience and talent of the world’s top film makers and offering undergraduates an educational experience unique to Solent.”

Open to students and the general public, the event takes place from 9.45am to 6pm on Wednesday 4 November 2015 in Studio Solent, John Millais Building, room 315, at the University’s East Park Terrace campus.
