Solent University is thrilled to announce that a range of artwork by students and alumni, is now on sale in Southampton City Art Gallery.
Solent University is thrilled to announce that a range of artwork by students and alumni is now on sale in Southampton City Art Gallery.
The work is on display through a collaboration with Solent’s retail initiative, Re:So and the City Art Gallery and stock will be updated every three months. The pieces for sale include work by MA Visual Communication student, Samuel Watson, who has created a range specifically for sale in the gallery. Plus two alumni, Allison Farley and Melissa Donne – both best selling stockists of Re:So.
Dean of the Faculty of Creative Industries, Architecture and Engineering, Professor Peter Lloyd, said of the collaboration; "It is a fantastic example of the manifesto, which was recently signed by the Art School and the Art Gallery, coming to life and creating a direct impact in the city via education and the arts. The relationship between the two institutions is a long one and it is one that we are very proud to have reignited."
Lesley Taylor, Senior Lecturer, Re:So said; "Re:So are excited to collaborate with Southampton City Art Gallery after this retail project being put on hold for two years by the pandemic. It has given a mix of student and alumni the opportunity to sell their work to a wider community that not only live in, but who visit Southampton. Product ranges will be refreshed every three months to maintain variety and commerciality, thus offering this opportunity to a wider scope of student and graduate artists.”
Work can be purchased from the first floor of Southampton City Art Gallery.
