University response to the Afghanistan refugee crisis

Our Vice-Chancellor is working with leaders across the city to prepare for the arrival of families from Afghanistan who are being housed in Southampton and, once further details regarding numbers and requirements are available, will be assessing what additional support we can provide.

As part of Solent’s University of Sanctuary application we have awarded a full fees bursary to a refugee from Afghanistan who will be joining the University in September, given the current crisis, we are looking to extend this scheme during this academic year as well as exploring how we can further support refugees and asylum seekers in the future.
