In 2020, I joined the BSc (Hons) Football Studies course at Solent University. Prior to joining, I only really knew about the coaching and managing aspects of football. However, joining this course has shown me that there is much more to football than just playing, there are so many societal issues that are reflected in the sport, and I have been privileged to have learnt about these. I learnt that football reflects our society hugely and there are so many aspects besides just kicking a ball and tactics. During the course, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to speak with guest lecturers that have worked with successful clubs all around the world. This has allowed me to expand my network away from my degree and learn from real-life experiences.

Being a girl in the football industry was inevitably difficult, despite this, the Football Studies course was so incredibly welcoming and provided me with experience and advice to reduce the barriers for women and girls wanting to be involved in the football industry.

The BSc (Hons) Football Studies course at Solent University has taught me so much about football and given me the chance to expand my knowledge wherever possible. Upon graduating the course, I feel confident and competent to achieve my goals in the football industry.
