Solent Conference Centre is proud to sit within Solent University’s new £30 million building, The Spark. Our leafy city centre location overlooks Southampton’s East Park and benefits from excellent links with motorways, buses, taxis, trains and two local airports.

Whether you are hosting an exhibition, conference, training session or social function, The Spark’s attention-grabbing central atrium and cutting-edge conference facilities are sure to bring a genuine wow-factor to your event.

  1. Conference suites

    Located on our upper floors, we have two flexible conference suites which can be transformed into four meeting rooms depending on the size of your party.

    With views out to The Atrium, each suite comes with a dedicated hospitality area for breakout sessions, lunch or a quick coffee.

  2. Meeting rooms

    Our four meeting rooms have views out to the city. Each room comes with a shared hospitality area overlooking The Atrium - perfect for breakout sessions or a quick coffee. 

    Audio visual facilities are included in each room and microphones can be pre-ordered.

  3. The Whitebeam Suite

    Overlooking and attached to The Atrium, The Whitebeam Suite offers flexible space for buffets, private dining, social gatherings and receptions.

    It can either be opened up to form part of The Atrium or it can be sectioned off to become private fine dining or event space.

  4. The Atrium

    The centrepiece of The Spark building is its show-stopping atrium - stretching the full height of the building and featuring an eye-catching floating ‘pod’, open galleries and bridge walkways.

    The Atrium has been designed as a multifunctional space and is available to hire for a range of events.

  5. Austen Lecture Theatre

    Our 200-seat lecture theatre is a traditional lecture theatre with a difference. Located in the The Spark building, it offers a contemporary approach to lectures and presentations with state-of-the-art technology, split-screen viewing compatibility and a dedicated green room.

  6. Palmerston Lecture Theatre

    Primed for immersive teaching and presentations, our Harvard-style lecture theatre seats 150 for an intimate lecture experience.

    This space is available for private hire at certain times of the academic year.

  7. The Pod

    The unique and multi-functional 'Pod' is suspended in the centre of the atrium. It features a full-size lecture theatre and an open-topped viewing platform with fantastic views into East Park – perfect for immersive teaching, team building and commercial events.

  8. The Bridge

    Guests can also hire the space on top of The Pod, known as The Bridge. With stunning extended views of The Atrium, this space is perfect for hosting a drinks reception before heading into The Pod for a presentation or meeting.

  9. Pitchside at Test Park

    Set in beautifully-developed sports grounds, Pitchside is a versatile venue that can hold celebrations and meetings for up to 120 people. The suite can also be turned into two separate conference rooms. Pitchside is located just off the M27 and easily accessible from Southampton city centre.

  10. East Park Deli

    Our delicatessen in The Spark building seats 80 and offers views of East Park while dining or grabbing a quick coffee. The space can also be pre-booked for private hire at certain times of the academic year.

  11. Solent Showcase

    Solent Showcase is an exciting art space available to hire for drinks receptions or product launches. The gallery is an ideal space to host receptions for up to 70 people, and can also be extended into the neighbouring Artisan café, allowing for a total audience of 140.

  12. The Artisan

    This café provides an informal, atmospheric venue for social events, live music and gatherings. The Artisan has a capacity of 70 in standing reception style. In keeping with the arts complex it sits within, the decor features a quirky mix of exposed brickwork, chandeliers and bowler hats.

Catering

Fresh menus

Whether it’s a working lunch, gala dinner, drinks reception or wedding, our state-of-the-art hospitality kitchen can produce show-stopping menus for all dietary needs. 

From light lunches to sit-down meals, delegates can enjoy a range of food produced with local and ethically sourced ingredients by our Sodexo Prestige chefs. All our conference suites also come with a dedicated hospitality area where delegates can be served unlimited barista style tea and coffee while enjoying a view of the atrium.  

Private dining

A new venture for Solent Conference Centre is The Whitebeam Suite, where formal menus can be pre-booked and prepared for clients who are hosting a networking breakfast, working lunch or dinner.

Café and shop

The East Park Deli is located at the front of the building and offers guests a range of grab-and-go food options, as well as access to a convenience store.

Accommodation

24-hour delegate package

Our excellent relationships with local hotel partners mean we are able to manage all our delegates’ accommodation needs and offer packages that suit a range of budgets.

Our 24-hour delegate package includes a three course dinner in The Whitebeam Suite.

Group accommodation

During the summer months we can offer groups of six or more accommodation in our Lucia Foster Welch student residence. 

Located just a short walk from Ocean Village and the city’s waterfront, the area boasts an array of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Getting back to your accommodation at the end of the day won’t be a problem - Lucia Foster Welch is only a 15-minute walk away from the city centre, Solent Conference Centre and the main University campus.
