This workshop will raise your awareness of the telltale signs of abuse and poor practice, and give you the tools you need to deal with any issues sensitively, appropriately and effectively should the need ever arise in your coaching career.

Course pre-requisites:

You must be aged 16 years or older to take part in this course.

What you'll study

Course content:

The workshop is interactive and informal. Tutors draw on participant's experiences and knowledge and develop learning through presentations and small group activities. The workshop is designed to answer questions including:

  • What is best practice when working with youngsters?
  • What is poor practice?
  • How would I recognise the signs, indicators and forms of abuse?
  • What kind of behaviour and abuse affect our own feelings?
  • How does poor practice and abuse affect our own feelings?
  • When and how should I act if you have concerns about a child's welfare?
Course exam/certificate:

There is no formal assessment. The progress of learners is monitored through group activities and discussions.

Your future

The safeguarding children workshop is aimed at adults who coach or work with young children to enable them to recognise signs of abuse and deal with complex issues in a sensitive manner.
