Library

The Library is open for Solent students and staff to access computers and study spaces, and for browsing the shelves and borrowing items.

About the library

The library provides resources, services and expertise to support the University’s students and staff in learning, research and teaching.

Situated over five floors, with WiFi throughout, the library provides students and staff with hundreds of study spaces, including bookable group and individual study rooms, and even a student kitchen! There are around 160 desktop PCs and Macs, and over 100 laptops that can be borrowed for a week. In addition to many shelves of print books, the library also provides access to e-books and other electronic resources - over 200,000 books and 70,000 journals are available either in print or online.

The friendly and knowledgeable team can help you to make the best use of the library and its resources and services. There is a dedicated team of Information Librarians who are experts on the resources available to support your studies. You can access the Libguide for your subject to find out more or email the information librarians for further support. And if you have a question but can’t get to the library in person, there’s the option to speak with a member of the team on live chat.
