Erasmus Charter to expand international opportunities

The award enables Solent to participate in the Erasmus+ programme from the 2027/28 academic year and bid for funding from January 2027.

Through Erasmus+, students will be able to access opportunities including study placements, work placements and combined study and work experiences overseas, helping them develop new skills, broaden their horizons and enhance their future employability. Staff can also train or teach in Europe with Erasmus funding, a new opportunity following the end of the UK Government’s Turing Scheme.

The Charter will also enable Solent to pursue funding for international cooperation and partnership projects, strengthening collaboration with universities, businesses and organisations across Europe on forward thinking initiatives.

Solent continues to invest in international mobility opportunities for its students and currently has more than £200,000 available to support overseas activities, as the Turing Scheme comes to an end this year.

Securing the ECHE further demonstrates the University’s commitment to internationalisation and intercultural exchange, while creating opportunities for students and staff to build connections, share knowledge and gain international experience.

The University is already working with European partners to develop future mobility programmes and collaborative project proposals ahead of the Erasmus+ funding call in January 2027.

The announcement follows Solent’s recently agreed international partnership with Exeed, which will see accredited courses taught digitally across the Middle East, further extending the University’s international reach and access to its practice-led education.
