
Graduating student earns top CIMSPA honour

Southampton Solent University has awarded an Honorary Doctor of Business to Phil Parsons, Chief Executive Officer of Southampton Football Club, today (Friday 10 July).
This honour recognises Phil’s outstanding achievements in business and civic impact, his commitment to community inclusion, and his dedication to Solent University.
Phil joined Southampton Football Club in summer 2023 and works closely with the club’s ownership and executive team to shape overall strategy and operations, with a focus on delivering sustainable success both on and off the pitch.
Alongside the football operation, he has also played a key role in developing wider commercial and real estate opportunities around the club, driven by a passion for the transformation of Southampton and the St Mary’s area.
Prior to his appointment at Southampton Football Club, Phil spent 15 years with global technology company Dyson, where he held a number of senior leadership roles across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. His final role as President of Europe, Middle East and Africa saw him responsible for almost 40% of the company’s global business, overseeing multi-billion-pound revenues and leading thousands of employees across the region.
Phil’s international career has seen him live and work in countries including Ireland, France, Italy and across the Middle East, giving him a broad global outlook and deep understanding of diverse markets and cultures.
A lifelong football enthusiast who played semi-professional football in his younger years, Phil brings a unique combination of sporting insight and commercial leadership to his role. His commitment to long-term growth and innovation continues to shape his approach within the football industry.
The University’s long-standing partnership with Southampton Football Club continues to play an important role in supporting student opportunities, industry collaboration and the development of talent within the region’s thriving sports and creative sectors.
On receiving the award Phil Parsons said: “It’s a real honour and a privilege to receive this recognition from Southampton Solent University.
