Showcasing Solent Sport on the world stage

Iain Molyneux, Sport Education Partnerships Manager, attended the international event as part of the Great Britain delegation with British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), while also representing Solent University and promoting its wide ranging sport and education offer to global partners.

Hosted by Mid Sweden University and the Swedish University Sports Federation (SAIF) in cooperation with the International University Sports Federation (FISU), this year’s forum focused on the theme, “Active Body, Healthy Mind: How Impactful Sport Can Be at Universities.” Discussions explored how sport and physical activity can enhance student wellbeing, engagement and academic success, while supporting recruitment, retention and the overall student experience.

As part of the programme, Iain presented at the FISU World Fair, highlighting Solent’s reputation for sport education, industry focused learning, high quality facilities and strong links with professional sport. The presentation showcased the University’s broad sport offer, from participation and recreational opportunities through to performance sport, alongside its commitment to supporting student athletes.

A key area of interest for international delegates was Solent’s approach to helping students balance their academic studies with sporting ambitions. Through initiatives such as the University’s Sport Excellence Programme, students are able to pursue high level competition while achieving their educational goals, demonstrating that they do not have to choose between sporting success and academic achievement.

The forum provided an opportunity to share best practice with universities from across the world, while raising awareness of Solent’s facilities, teaching expertise and student experience among potential international partners and future collaborators.
