Nominations for Solent Engage Awards 2023 now open

Nominations for the Solent Engage Awards 2023, building upon last year’s Business and Alumni Awards, are now open. The award winners will be announced on Tuesday 12 December 2023 and will provide an opportunity to celebrate the impact our external communities have on the university, our student community, and society.

The Solent Engage Awards will celebrate the contribution of our external communities in supporting Solent’s 2025 Strategy and identify examples of best practice. This year our civic stakeholders will also be recognised as part of the programme with two new awards being presented: Civic Charter Impact Award and Make a Difference Award.

Syamantak Bhattacharya, Provost of Solent University comments, "Solent has a proven track record in engaging with its external communities, enabling two-way knowledge exchange that drives mutual benefits. From working with employers to develop apprenticeships to welcoming our alumni back to deliver a guest lecture, individuals and organisations across the region contribute towards our individual and organisational successes at Solent. We are therefore delighted to be launching this year’s Solent Engage Awards, recognising the role of our, students, staff and external communities in exchanging knowledge and driving change through their collaboration. There are a variety of categories open to staff, students and our external communities to put forward nominations and we look forward to reading about some of the great collaborations that have been taking place during the 2022/23 academic year."

 

The 9 awards that will be presented are as follows:

Apprentice of the Year - This award recognises individuals who have excelled in their work, learning and development and have made exceptional contributions to their workplace.

Apprenticeship Employer of the Year - This award recognises commitments made by business to develop their workforce through developing apprentices in collaboration with Solent University and providing ongoing training, professional development, and up-skilling of their workforce.

Business and Entrepreneurial Award - This award celebrates a recent Solent graduate who has launched their own start-up or small business, and recognises the tenacity, spirit and skill needed to create a business that has the potential to grow into a sustainable success story.

Civic Charter Impact Award - This award recognises outstanding contributions made by external partners, organisations and individuals who inspire and support Solent University in achieving its ambitions and success.

Distinguished Mentoring Award - This award recognises exceptional contributions made by an individual to the Solent Professional Mentoring Programme in equipping young professionals with knowledge and skills needed for the modern workplace.

Employer Recruitment Award - This award recognises the continuous support and efforts of an employer who has worked in partnership with Solent University to advance the recruitment of our talented student body.

Future Leader Award - This award recognises a Solent graduate who has demonstrated exceptional success or progression within their chosen profession.

Make a Difference Award - This volunteering award celebrates inspiring individuals or groups that have helped communities or individuals to improve places or lives in and around Southampton.

Solent Engage Award - This award is selected by the VCG from all the shortlisted finalists.

 

We kindly ask all members of our student body, staff, and external communities to nominate anyone they feel deserving for the appropriate award. Nominations for each award are open until 11:59pm on Sunday 17 September 2023.
