What is varsity?
Launched in 2016, Varsity is an annual sporting event between Solent University and Bournemouth University. The event is held each spring and showcases our student sport, with a healthy competition between the two local universities. The event gives Team Solent’s sports clubs the opportunity to celebrate the University’s sporting ability and showcase their talent.
The event consists of various sporting matches played across two days, with indoor sports played at Solent in the Sports Complex and outdoor sports taking place at Chapel Gate, where students can enjoy live music, food trucks and other fun activities throughout the day. Over the last few years the event has been getting bigger and better with over 2,000 people in attendance and showing their support for their university.

Unfortunately, our 2020 event had to be cancelled due to Covid-19, however we are looking forward to running a smaller event for 2021 which will be live-streamed.
