Ever thought about working for yourself and starting your own business? How about working as a creative freelancer?
Solent Futures, the employability and enterprise service here at Solent, can help you to succeed with advice and practical support. Enterprise and entrepreneurship are both deeply embedded in the University's culture and we are very proud of the fact that over the last three years we have advised over 450 students and graduates, and provided over £150,000 of financial support. Right from the start of your time at Solent, you will be able to enter competitions, pitch your business idea, join our student enterprise societies and speak to dedicated enterprise advisers.
Students and graduates can apply for grant funding (up to £3,000 in 2020/2021) from the University through the Solent entrepreneurs' scheme. Graduates are entitled to apply for funding up to three years after they graduate. The enterprise team supports graduates with business advice and also signposts them to other useful business networks.
While you are a student you can apply to work for Solent Creatives, our award winning creative agency within Solent University. Working directly for a client on the client’s brief, you will get the opportunity to take on freelance assignments, helping you develop a valuable portfolio to impress employers or your potential clients if you decide to work for yourself. Many of these assignments are paid opportunities.
