Data protection and freedom of information policy

The Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) govern how an organisation may use personal data, retain it and who can access it.

Personal data provided to the University can be released when:

  • An individual has received notice their data is being processed
  • There is a statutory (or other compelling) reason to release data

The University's data protection policy sets out the general regulations which govern Solent University's compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
