About the course

This intensive top-up programme is specifically designed to help learners build on their existing experience and qualifications, turning them into a full UK honours degree in just one year. You’ll strengthen the knowledge you’ve gained from work in the industry or earlier studies and have the chance to improve your understanding of international business and global commerce.

Real industry insight is at the heart of Solent University’s international management top-up programme. The course team maintain strong relationships with industry professionals, which have previously lead to unique guest lectures, live assessment briefs, and work experience placements for business students.

Students will complete a consultancy pitch and a project report instead of a dissertation. The pitch will give students valuable transferable skills and the chance to work with local employers on a live client brief.  The curriculum gives students the opportunity to stay up to date with current issues and relate them back to established academic theory.

Think your business idea could be the next big thing? Solent’s enterprise centre is dedicated to helping student entrepreneurs achieve success. They have previously provide support in the form of funding, office space, mentoring and guidance.

This course is specifically developed to broaden and strengthen knowledge and experience gained in general business and management studies. It seeks to improve knowledge of comparative analysis and international business management practices, developing inter-cultural awareness and an understanding of business communication.

After successfully completing your studies, there's an opportunity to continue your studies at Solent.

Graduate stories

Henriette's story

Henriette Behnke - International Cruise Expert at Carnival UK

What was the best part of your course?
Because we had a fairly small group of students, we were able to build strong relationships with staff and participate in very intimate and intense lectures/seminars.

What is your favourite memory from your time at university?
Making new friends and taking part in the International Business and Marketing Week.

What do you do now and what do you find most enjoyable about your work?
I work for the international team at Carnival UK, promoting both Cunard and P&O voyages. I enjoy having contact with clients, helping them to find their perfect cruise. We've had clients send us postcards before, which is an amazing feeling, knowing that we've satisfied and exceeded their expectations!

What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying at Solent?
Take advantage of the wide-ranging programmes offered by Solent. Do as many activities as possible, join a club and just be an active/engaged student. University is your only chance to get such a variety of experiences in such a short period of time, so don't waste it. Also, make sure you take part in the trips offered!
