Retail Remedies

Transform your retail business with expert support

Southampton Solent University, in partnership with GO! Southampton, is offering a unique opportunity for independent retailers to access tailored, expert led support designed to improve performance, attract customers, and revitalise in store experience.

The Retail Remedies project is a fully funded programme, helping local businesses unlock their full potential through practical, hands-on retail consultancy.

Fully funded opportunity

The programme is supported by GO! Southampton and funded through the Southampton Solent Innovation Voucher Scheme, meaning eligible businesses can access this support at no cost.

This opportunity is open to businesses that are Southampton Business Improvement District (BID) levy payers. If your business is not currently a levy payer, you can still access the same expert support through our standalone Retail Remedies consultancy offer, details on how to get involved can be found at the bottom of this page.

Project launch

As part of the project launch, Lesley and the students have visited Gallery Grounds and Kadampa Meditation Centre. They are now developing bespoke recommendations for each business, contributing to detailed Retail Improvement Packs as part of their consultancy assistant roles.

The Retail Remedies team with some of their contacts

This is a fantastic hands-on, real-world project for students from different disciplines to learn about the challenges faced by independent business owners. By sharing their knowledge and fresh perspectives, students can propose ideas that businesses can adopt and test in practice.

Access Retail Remedies as a standalone consultancy

In addition to the funded programme, the Retail Remedies package can also be made available as a paid consultancy service for individual businesses.

If you’re unable to take part in the current project, you can still benefit from the same expert guidance. The standalone offer provides the same tailored approach to your business, focusing on practical improvements to customer experience, visual merchandising, and overall performance.

This package would be eligible for support through the Innovation Voucher Scheme, enabling businesses to reclaim up to £5,000 (including VAT) upon successful completion of the project.
