Historical Southampton city tour

Join us on a tour of Southampton with a local guide and learn all about its incredible history.

The city is famous for many things, including:

  • RMS Titanic - she made her maiden voyage from Southampton on 12 April 1912
  • The Spitfire - designed by Reginald Mitchell at the Supermarine factory
  • The hovercraft - designed by Sir Christopher Cockerell
  • The birthplace of Benny Hill
  • Fish fingers! And much, much more...

You will get to see where Henry VIII met Ann Boleyn in secret (before they got married); find out why there is a golden cockerel weather vane on the spire of St Michael's Church; and where the Pilgrim Fathers boarded the Mayflower to sail to the 'New World'.

The tour will start at 1pm from Solent University. It takes approximately 90 minutes and covers around two miles. The tour is free of charge for Solent students. Please wear suitable shoes for a walking tour as we will be walking on uneven surfaces.

Book your place before 13 September. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
