UK government legislation allows publicly funded educational institutions (such as Solent University) to charge 'overseas' fees to international students if they do not fulfil certain residence and immigration status requirements. The 'home' student rate is charged once you can prove you fulfil all the residence and immigration status requirements.

The rate you're charged depends on your nationality, immigration status in the UK, where you have been living and what you've been doing for three years prior to the start of your course.

In addition to the information you supply at the time of your application, we may ask you additional details about yourself and your family to help us assess your fee status. Should this be necessary we will ask you to complete a fees assessment questionnaire. We would also ask you to provide relevant documents (a copy of your passport, relevant immigration stamps, Home Office letter confirming status in the UK, utility bills from a property in the UK/EU, employment contracts) to support the information you give.

Assessments are based on the individual circumstances of each applicant. Further details of these requirements can be found on the UK Council for International Student Affairs website.

Your fees status questionnaire will be strictly assessed using the UK Government's UKCISA guidelines.

Please note that our assessment of an individual as 'home' or 'overseas' for fees purposes is independent of any decision which Student Finance England may make concerning their entitlement to financial support. If you have any questions about fee status, please contact the admissions team:
