It's a standing ovation for acting and performance

One of the best-regarded league tables in the world, this year's guide has seen Solent's School of Creative Industries celebrating course wins in dance and drama.

These results follow the continued growth of Solent's Acting and Performance course, with drama and dance studies at Solent ranked 5th out of 80 institutions offering courses in this area and placing the University in the top 10% nationally, making it one of the very best in the country.

Dr Allan Taylor, Dean of the School of Creative Industries, says:

“These rankings are a credit to the culture we've built. It shows that our approach to performance education, one rooted in practice and industry relevance, is genuinely working for our students. To see that recognised alongside our continued growth is hugely encouraging, and it's a great moment for everyone involved.”

These significant results follow the successful growth of Solent's Acting and Performance course. Students gain practice-led experience through public performances, professional partnerships and access to industry-standard facilities, including a 64-seat theatre on campus.

The courses demonstrate the impact Solent has on both its local creative community and the learning outcomes of its students. The subject area also ranked first for teaching satisfaction, with 100% of students satisfied with the quality of teaching.

Sarah Mepham, Senior Lecturer in Performance, says: “To see our performance provision recognised at this level is brilliant news, and it validates the way we approach training our students. We're preparing graduates who understand the industry and can step into it with confidence. Results like this show that our focus on career-ready skills is genuinely setting our graduates apart.”

Rounding up this year's success, drama and dance has also been recognised for continuation, ranking first out of 79 institutions offering the same or similar courses, with 98.2% of students continuing to the next year of study.
