Architecture builds on success in Guardian University Guide 2027

Southampton Solent University's BA (Hons) Architectural Design & Technology course has been ranked 15th out of 57 institutions in the Guardian University Guide 2027, placing it in the top 30% nationally for the subject.

The Guardian University Guide is one of the UK's most closely watched league tables, ranking universities and courses on factors including teaching quality, student satisfaction and graduate outcomes. A strong subject ranking gives prospective students a trusted, independent signal of course quality when weighing up where to study.

The BA (Hons) Architectural Design & Technology degree is professionally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and gives students the chance to work on real industry briefs, designing projects from concept through to technical design.

Students also present their work to employers and the public at Solent's end-of-year summer show, an event that has, in the past, led directly to graduate job offers.

“Our graduates leave Solent with the skills, confidence and adaptability needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving built environment sector. It also highlights the calibre of teaching across our architecture courses, where passionate and experienced academics work closely with students to help them realise their potential and achieve outstanding outcomes.”

The course ranked second out of 57 institutions for satisfaction with assessment, with 95.6% of students satisfied with how they are assessed. Its graduates have gone on to work at architectural practices including Corstorphine & Wright, ADAM Architecture, HPW, HGP Architects, Noviun Architects and HNW Architects, as well as within local government.

The provision also performed strongly for continuation, ranking 21st out of 56 institutions offering the same or similar courses, with 94% of students continuing on to the next year of study.
