Gearing up to graduate

Southampton Guildhall will be a hub of excitement this month, as more than 2700 students gown-up and get ready to graduate with degrees and professional qualifications from Southampton Solent University.

Ten ceremonies over five days from 17-21 November will showcase new graduate talent ranging from sport to architectural technology, fashion to yacht-design, and business management to TV and film production.


Looking forward to taking part in his first graduation week as Vice-Chancellor of Southampton Solent, Professor Graham Baldwin says: “Graduation is the highlight of the academic calendar. It is a time when we celebrate the academic achievement, new skills and future success of our students.

“I am proud to be the new Vice-Chancellor of such a dynamic, diverse and inspirational University. I am reminded every day of the value of a Solent degree by businesses and industry who tell me that our graduates are work-ready when they leave here.

“I am proud of our excellent facilities, academic expertise and talented students who, as they graduate this week, will have the opportunity to succeed in their chosen careers.”

Southampton Solent University Chancellor, Admiral The Right Honourable Lord West of Spithead, and the Chair of the Board of Governors, Jonathan Cheshire, will preside over the University’s graduation ceremonies.


Graduates will be able to share their experience with friends and relatives from around the world via a live webcast, which will also be available to view on mobile and tablet devices.

Southampton Solent University will also be presenting honorary degrees to  academics and professionals who have made an outstanding contribution in their field of expertise.
