Following his passion for sailing, Vittorio studied naval architecture and marine engineering at the University of Napoli Federico II where he got a PhD and a MEng.

Just five days after completing his studies, he began working for a company which had the tug concession in three ports. He was involved in the operational control and was actively involved in the service and maintenance of the fleet.

In 2018 he joined a rigging company which specialised in the refitting of masts and race optimization. He also worked as surveyor for a classification society for recreational craft and as independent technical advisor for the Court of Napoli.

Vittorio joined Solent University in 2018 after having taught for years in further education.
