Biography
Dr Adham Hawash is a lecturer in accounting and finance at Southampton Solent University, with over 13 years of academic teaching and curriculum development experience. He joined Solent in January 2025, having previously held academic positions at Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham.
At Solent, Adham teaches across a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, from Level 3 to Level 7, and serves as senior personal tutor for the Accounting and Finance programme. His teaching is informed by both academic research and professional practice, with a focus on bridging theory and practice through interactive learning and real-world case studies. His approach is student-centred and practically grounded, aiming to equip students with the analytical and professional skills needed in accounting and finance.
His research focuses on how corporate governance shapes the information environment and reporting of firms and their exposure to stock price crash risk, particularly across different national and institutional settings. He holds a PhD in Business and Management (thesis in Accounting and Finance) from the University of Nottingham. He is currently working on research projects aimed at publication in leading international governance journals, and serves as a peer reviewer for academic journals, including the International Journal of Finance & Economics and Studies in Business and Economics
Adham is currently completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, leading to Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA).
