Andrea Bottigliero

Biography

Andrea joined Solent University as a lecturer within the School of Technology and Maritime Industries team in 2026.

Andrea graduated with a BA in Industrial Design, with focus on yacht design, at Sapienza University in Rome. He gained an MA at the Postgraduate Design Institution of the Royal College of Art, London, with focus on marine design. He also holds a Diploma in Naval Architecture from North Kent College | Lloyd's Maritime Academy.

Andrea has been a professional in the marine industry, during and after his academic years - he has worked for some of the most renowned firms in the superyacht design field as exterior and interior yacht designer. 

He has dedicated part of his career to the design of custom carbon fibre and GRP yachts, following the ideation of bespoke yacht projects from the initial drafts to their technical development and construction.

Before joining Solent University Andrea worked in the commercial marine design/engineering field as a concept engineer for commercial vessels, ferries, CTVs and support vessels, among others.
