Biography
Claire grew up in a small Cornish village, born into a maritime family. She served 12 years at sea as a deck officer and has remained within the industry while working ashore for the past 20 years. She is very passionate about promoting careers at sea and within the maritime industry.
Claire is a lecturer at Warsash Maritime School and enjoys her time engaging with the cadets at the sunrise of their careers. Claire founded the Warsash Women’s Group in its previous guise to help support the young female cadets entering the industry through Warsash. She is a passionate educator and tries to bring variety into the classroom.
Claire is an ambassador for Careers at Sea, a careers ambassador for Maritime UK, a volunteer careers advisor for the Sail Training Trust in Portsmouth, and is a coming ashore mentor with the Marine Society and Sea Cadets.

Claire has over 30 years' experience in the maritime industry, including 12 years at sea, taking her professional qualifications through Warsash Maritime School.
Once ashore, she worked in roles including vessel traffic services, port operations, superintendency, health and safety, and personnel.
