Biography

Claire undertook her Diploma in Nursing Sciences with the University in Southampton and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2000. She then spent 11 years working for the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust on an acute head and neck surgical ward where she developed her practice and achieved her postgraduate degree in Clinical Practice in 2011.

She has also developed my passion for teaching and supporting staff by changing roles in 2011 to work with the skills for practice team within training and development, still at University Hospital Southampton.

Further information

From 2009 to 2018, Claire worked with the skills for practice team at University Hospital Southampton, providing clinical skills to a range of health care professionals from medical students to registered nurses. She has also been assessing health care assistants who are undertaking their level 3 apprenticeship in health, based at the Trust. As part of her role she was also required to IQA the work submitted by apprentices and therefore gained her level 4 qualification in relation to this.
