Claire is a registered nurse with 24 years' post-registration experience spanning several clinical settings, including military hospital, medical centres, homecare (both in the UK and overseas), private nursing home matron manager, head of clinical nursing, community and community hospital wards, and clinical education in a community trust.

She was previously the ward sister for Hythe hospital when it was a community hospital with inpatients, step up, and step down rehabilitation.

Further information

Between 2010 and 2016, Claire held senior positions including deputy matron, matron manager and head of nursing care at private nursing homes. While working in the private sector, Claire studied education at Brockenhurst College (Preparing to Teach in the Life-Long Learning Sector) and took responsibility for specifying, developing, and delivering education in the nursing home settings.

Claire thrives on being set challenging objectives and in 2010 she delivered mental capacity and safeguarding education to staff at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust – a challenge she relished and which led to very good feedback. This led her to study teaching at a local college and then at university, where she gained her PGCE

Claire has been committed to maintaining her clinical practice and re-joined the NHS in 2016, working nightshifts at Lymington Hospital. Her clinical experience has continued substantially since her first registration, including work in surgical settings while posted in Cyprus with the military. During the pandemic Claire was redeployed to the vaccination centre and undertook varying roles including shift lead and supervising the hub daily, ensuring the safe delivery of Covid vaccinations to Trust staff and members of the public.
