Biography

David is an award-winning broadcast journalist with more than 15 years’ experience in national and regional television. He’s an accomplished presenter, reporter and producer whose work has been seen and heard on ITV News at Ten, ITV Sport, CNN, MSNBC and ITV News Meridian.

On the sportsdesk, he has reported on every major event, including the FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games, The Ashes, Formula One World Championships - and interviewed Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Steve Redgrave and countless other sporting legends.

He loves passing on his insider knowledge and experience to the journalists of tomorrow. He primarily works on the BA (Hons) Sports Journalism degree but moves around the programme group when needed.

David is also interested in researching advances in the digital newsroom, mobile journalism, new video content production techniques, social media as a newsgathering and production tool, and new media outputs (YouTube, Netflix, Apple TV).

Further information

David has more than 15 years' experience as a TV reporter, presenter and producer. He began his career at ITV Meridian as a trainee journalist and worked his way up the ladder to anchoring the flagship 6pm programme.

David became a full-time sports presenter/reporter in 2006 and got a front-row seat with Reading FC during their historic promotion to the Premier League (he was the only TV reporter allowed on the open-top bus with the players and travelled to Sweden on their pre-season tour). He still works at ITV News Meridian, so do not be surprised if you see his face or hear his voice while watching television. In addition, David continues to freelance as a reporter for various clients, including The PGA.

He also worked in PR for a short time, so can offer an insight into the other side of the communications industry and news cycle.
