Biography
Emma is a senior lecturer in Fashion Business and Marketing in the School of Creative Industries at Solent University. She has been teaching at the University since 2008 and delivers across both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Emma teaches a range of modules across fashion business, marketing, and management, including digital marketing, omni-channel strategy, international marketing, retail management, buying and merchandising, and fashion law. She is also the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) lead tutor, supporting the integration of professional qualifications into affiliated undergraduate programmes.
Her teaching practice focuses on creating an inclusive and collaborative learning environment through blended and hybrid approaches. She integrates innovative teaching methods, varied assessment strategies, and experiential learning to support student engagement and the practical application of theory within real-world industry contexts.
Emma has contributed to curriculum development and course leadership across the School and is part of the teaching team for the REVO CertHE in Retail and Leisure Place Management, developed in collaboration with industry partners.
Alongside her teaching, Emma has extensive experience as an external examiner across UK and international institutions, supporting courses in fashion marketing, business, and luxury brand management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Before joining academia, Emma worked in the fashion industry for over 10 years, holding roles in buying and production for brands including Muji, Paul Costelloe, Fat Face, and Ted Baker, gaining experience across global supply chains and product development.
Emma has previously worked as an assistant production manager for Tredia Europe (supplying Muji and Paul Costelloe), assistant buyer at Fat Face, and production coordinator at Ted Baker. Her industry experience spans product development, buying, merchandising, and supply chain management across menswear, womenswear, and childrenswear.
