Biography
James is an energetic and enthusiastic educator. He has spent 20 years working in the industry as surface pattern, lead product designer and art director across multiple creative disciplines.
His design work has taken him to all corners of the globe, working with the likes of IKEA, Ralph Lauren, Nike. James’ latest interior design work for Pizza Express and Las Iguanas can be seen across the UK on the exterior and interiors of flagship stores. Using a mixture of traditional drawing and mark making methods balanced with modern software to create unique artworks.
This experience is what he loves to share with the students on the interior design decoration course here at Southampton Solent University. Aiming for the students to have a wide creative palette to use when entering Industry.
James holds a passion for all things creative. His current interests include pencil drawing, modern contemporary design, Scandinavian interior design, Brutalism and the Bauhaus movement.
Alongside his lecturing, James continues to work in the industry on both surface and product design. His artwork is used across interiors, fashion, lifestyle brands, music and product design.
Further information
James has taught one to one with new designers creating work across the globe for countless market leading companies such as John Lewis, Made and MoMA. He also has worked as a MA Lecturer at the Winchester School of Art.
