Kerry Wardell

Biography

Kerry leads modules in sport, sociology, policy in practice, and sport development. Her PhD in Inclusive Strategic Development of Sport investigates ways to develop physical activity provision in local communities in ways that could most successfully get people of all backgrounds active. 

Kerry works in local government and as a consultant for World Rowing. She also sits on the UK Active Scientific Advisory Board. Her knowledge of policy, strategy, or strategic planning in relation to physical activity and town planning brings real-world experience to the classroom. This knowledge evidences the tangible elements of sport and physical activity delivery and how getting these approaches right can make a significant long-term impact on people's lives.

Further information

As a strategic lead in sport development in local government, Kerry brings clear industry knowledge and a practitioner's perspective to the classroom. Her sporting background is in rowing where she has worked in various countries to establish successful community development and national development programmes.
