Martin Reid, Course Leader

Biography

Martin has worked at Solent University since 2002, following the completion of a master's in Interactive Production. He first worked on multimedia journalism before moving over to design digital theory, user interface design and digital design. Martin is a unit leader at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study and he also a third year dissertation project supervisor.

Through his experience of working in the voluntary arts sector, he values the importance of networking and working collaboratively and so has a keen interest in enabling students’ build confidence in social capital and employability within the digital design and technologies industries.

Martin runs a guest speaker program called Happy Hour Digital Industry Talks, which are designed to offer an insight into working in the tech and digital industries. Talks are mostly focused on students, 'early career' or how to get into the industry, with speakers presenting their journey into the industry and professional practice.

Further information

Before becoming a university lecturer, Martin worked in the voluntary arts sector for over 28 years, managing and facilitating a wide variety of community-based participatory projects.
